Rules valid from 9/12/24
The KOOR Lydden rod championship is promoted by Kent Outlaw Oval Racing (KOOR) and is organised by Lydden Hill Drivers Club LTD (LHDC LTD) and together they will run race meetings on the oval circuit at Lydden Hill Race Circuit (LHRC) on the following dates;
Neither LHDC LTD, KOOR, LHRC or any company or organisation connected to the event or any of their respective employees, agents or assistants, shall be liable for any injury, loss, damage, claims, costs, expenses or demands suffered directly or indirectly by a participant as a consequence of their attendance at or participation in the racing activity, excluding any relevant person’s liability for personal injury or death caused by its negligence.
Motorsport can be dangerous and whilst LHDC LTD, KOOR and LHRC will take all reasonable precautions, accidents can occur. By entering this race event, you acknowledge this and confirm that you understand of the nature of the activity and attend at the event at your own risk.
The event does not provide any personal accident or motor vehicle insurance as part of your entry agreement and the organisers strongly recommend that appropriate insurance is purchased from an insurance company that provides policies for racing activities.
Competitor Eligibility and entry
Entrants must be fully paid-up members of KOOR and must hold a valid DVLA or Motorsport UK National or Race Club license (or higher). For the avoidance of doubt, any Motorsport UK Clubman or Interclub licenses will not give eligibility to participate.
Competitors must be at least 17 years of age and any competitor under the age of 18 must give written consent from a parent or guardian.
Applications for registrations must be done via Membership Form
By signing up as a KOOR member the competitor confirms they have read, understood and will abide by KOOR rules at all times.
Competitors will enter each round via KOOR and once paid they will then receive a sign-on link for the LHDC LTD online system which they must complete prior to each meeting. On the day of the event they must check-in and present their licence in race admin to receive their sign-on wristband.
Once drivers have completed their online sign-on process they will be
sent a E-ticket to give them access to the circuit. Each driver will get one ticket and all guests and team members must purchase tickets via www.lyddenhill.co.uk
When completing the online signing on procedure, the competitor must read and understand the briefing although there will be a second compulsory verbal briefing on the day of the event. Every competitor that attends the briefing will receive a briefing wristband.
Competitors will only be allowed to compete if they have both their sign on wristband and briefing wristband. Any tampering or swapping of the wristbands will result in exclusion from the event.
Competitors must be medically fit and make organisers aware of any medical conditions or allergies during the sign on process or during the event if their medical condition changes. Competitors must not be under the influence of alcohol or taking any drugs (whether prescribed or otherwise) that may impair their ability to take part.
Competitors must ensure they are wearing the correct safety clothing as outlined in the KOOR rules which includes a suitable helmet along with fire retardant race suit, gloves and balaclava. If the car has had the windscreen removed, the competitor must be wearing sufficient eye protection. Neck supports are strongly recommended.
Participants must wear any corrective eyewear which is required for driving. Persons who are pregnant are not permitted to participate.
Passengers are not permitted.
Paddock
Competitors must follow the instructions of the paddock marshals at all times and abide by the 10mph speed limit.
Each car must have a ground sheet and an in-date fire extinguisher within their paddock area. Competitors are reminded to keep their paddock area clean and use the bins provided.
Once you are parked by the paddock marshal, please ensure you make yourself aware of the nearest fire extinguisher point. If you are unsure, please ask a paddock marshal.
Electric hook-ups are available on a first come first serve basis and cards can be purchased from the catering unit.
Paddock bikes or other forms of unlicenced motorised transport are not permitted on site.
Waste oil must be disposed of in the receptable located at the back of the paddock and tyres must be taken off site.
Scoring, Awards and Grids
Grids will be decided and points will be awarded by KOOR. Any queries must be raised with them directly.
Format and Starts
The format of the day may differ for each event and will therefore be advised at the drivers briefing.
Rolling starts will be used for all races and you will be grided in the assembly area.
Penalties
KOOR reserve the right to give penalties for a breach of their rules and regulations including track limits, eligibility, gaining an unfair advantage.
LHDC LTD reserve the right to exclude any driver for any un-sportsmanlike behaviour including contact on track, threatening or abusive behaviour towards anyone on site or damage to the venue or facilities.
ALL CARS MUST BE BUILT WITHIN THE SPIRIT OF
THE FORMULA
VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY
Any front engine fwd small car,such as
fiesta,puma,corsa,etc
Engine must be no bigger than 1800cc with a maximum
published standard power rating of 130hp.
cars must be of all steel construction.
Hybrid and Electric cars are not permitted.
NOISE
The noise limit for Lydden Hill is 100dB static and will be
tested at a steady 5000rpm.
A fully functional and accurate rev counter is a
requirement for noise testing, vehicles without a rev
counter will automatically fail static noise testing.
Cars will not be permitted to race unless they pass the
static noise test.
Noise is monitored throughout the event through the use
of ‘drive by’ and circuit perimeter monitoring. Any
excessively noisy vehicle will be black flagged and
removed from the track until corrective action has been
taken. If the vehicle fails to meet the noise test
requirements and the driver is no longer able to participate
in the event, KOOR will not be liable for providing a
refund. The same applies if the vehicle suffers mechanical
issues and limits or prevents participation.
BODYWORK
Body work must remain as standard and be securely
fastened, with at least two additional clips or pins fitted to
bonnet and boot. Bodywork should be kept to a good
condition and there must be no dangerous sharp edges or
projections caused by rust, corrosion or damage which is
dangerous to others including drivers, marshals and
recovery staff. External paintwork should be appropriately
tidy and presentable. Koor and lydden reserve the right to
stop anyone from racing if they feel the bodywork or
paintwork of their car is particularly untidy or unsafe.
The interior must be fully removed but the dashboard can
remain, airbags must be removed.
Glass may be removed.
ENGINE
Same make engine swaps are allowed
Engine numbers must be clearly visible
Engine numbers will be recorded at the beginning of the
season, new engine numbers must be declared if engine
is changed.
Anyone not submitting their engine number will
automatically start at the back of all races until the engine
number is submitted.
Any 4-cylinder inline engine with a maximum published
standard power of 130hp is permitted. The engine may be
modified internally.The standard type injection and throttle
body should be used but in some cases may be replaced
with a single carburettor.
Throttle body , any standard throttle body from a simular
engine may be used,no aftermarket throttle bodies,
AIR FILTERS
are free.
EXHAUST AND MANIFOLD,
Exhaust manifold may be
changed to allow a decat,exhaust is free but must conform
to lyddens strict noise regulations.
GEARBOX AND DIFF
are free,any gearbox or diff may be
used but must fit on original mounts.
ECU
are free,this means you can remap or chip your ecu
or fit an aftermarket ecu or fit an ecu from a different car,
BRAKES,
brakes may be upgraded from a simular car in
the range but no aftermarket discs or calipers.
SUSPENSION
All suspension components must remain standard, shock
absorbers may be replaced with replacement gas or oil
units,coilover units may also be used but must use original
mounting points.
Spring rating and length is free.
The use of a small amount of camber is allowed on the
nearside wheels.
Suspension and steering components may not be cut or
welded.
WHEEL SPACERS
Properly fitted bolt on wheel spacers and axle spacers are
allowed.
WHEELS
TYRES
Only road legal tyres to be used.
No tyres marked “ for competition use only”
No slicks
Tyres must be upto a maximum width of 205
Tyres must be fitted safely to a suitable width wheel.
ROLLCAGE, SEAT,HARNESS,
Cars must be fitted with a suitable roll cage.
This should be a minimum of 6 point round tube cage
All welding should be of the highest possible quality with
full penetration and preferably using a gas shielded arc.
Minimum dimensions of material used should be 45 x 2.5
(1.75” x 0.095”)
It is strongly recommend that Motorsport UK
recommendations are followed for the installation of your
roll cage – See K1 to K1.8 in the 2023 Motorsport UK year
book available online.
Must have a certified race seat securely bolted to the floor.
This must be accompanied by a minimum of 5 point 3 inch
harness. It is strongly recommended that neither the seat
or the harness are any more than 3 years old.
Where new mounting points are created in the vehicle,
they should each be reinforced with steel counter plates.
It is strongly recommended that Motorsport UK
recommendations are followed for the installation of your
harness – see K2.1 to K2.1.11 in the 2023 Motorsport UK
yearbook available online.
Regular checks and maintenance should be performed
throughout the life of the harness and seat to ensure it
remains in a good and safe condition.
Cars must be fitted with a wire type towing strap to the
front and back of the car along with a window net on the
drivers side. Tow straps must be securely fastened and
rated for the weight required to tow your vehicles.
All cars must have atleast one brake light,if rear lights
have been removed a replacement light must be fitted to
the rear of car.
FUEL SYSTEM
The fuel system (including pump and tank) may remain as
standard when using the standard injection system.
Tanks must have no more than ¼ tank at the start of each
race.
If you are switching to a carb and need to modify the fuel
system,you may relocate the tank and /or pump, it must be
a purpose built certified tank and/or pump which must be
enclosed in a secure fireproof box. The tank
overflow must be fitted with a non return valve and fuel
lines must be metal with an in line cut off valve fitted and
clearly marked with on/off.
Storage of fuel is limited to 25l per vehicle and must be
stored in suitable receptacles.
BATTERY
Battery may remain in standard location, if relocated must
be in a securely fitted in a suitable box. A battery isolator
switch must be fitted to the outside of the car and clearly
marked.
NUMBERS
Your racing number must be CLEARLY displayed on each
side and the front of the car.
POST RACE CHECKS,
just like the minirods we will be doing post race checks on
the first 4 cars in the final plus any random car.drivers will
be told to go to the inspection area via their radio
receiver.drivers must exit the track and go straight to the
inspection area.
Any car failing post race checks will be removed from the
days results,any driver failing to go straight to the
inspection area will be removed from the days results.
