JUNIOR MINIROD FORMULA RULES

The KOOR Junior Minirod championship is promoted by Kent Outlaw Oval Racing (KOOR) and is organised by Lydden Hill Drivers Club LTD (LHDC LTD) and licenced with NORA92(NORA MOTORSPORT) and together they will run race meetings on the oval circuit at Lydden Hill Race Circuit (LHRC).

Neither LHDC LTD, KOOR, LHRC or any company or organisation connected to the event or any of their respective employees, agents or assistants, shall be liable for any injury, loss, damage, claims, costs, expenses or demands suffered directly or indirectly by a participant as a consequence of their attendance at or participation in the racing activity, excluding any relevant person’s liability for personal injury or death caused by its negligence.

Motorsport can be dangerous and whilst LHDC LTD, KOOR and LHRC will take all reasonable precautions, accidents can occur. By entering this race event, you acknowledge this and confirm that you understand the nature of the activity and attend the event at your own risk.

The event does not provide any personal accident or motor vehicle insurance as part of your entry agreement and the organisers strongly recommend that appropriate insurance is purchased from an insurance company that provides policies for racing activities.

COMPETITOR ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

Entrants must be fully paid-up members of KOOR and must hold a current NORA92 licence.

Competitors must be 14 to 17 years of age and any competitor under the age of 18 must give written consent from a parent or guardian. Drivers that are only 13 years of age will be allowed to practice with the Junior minirods until they are 14. Drivers that are only 13 years of age and can provide proof of race experience may be allowed to race.

Applications for junior minirod registrations must be done via KOOR Membership Form and will include a part for the parent/guardian to read and agree to.

By signing up as a KOOR member the competitor confirms they have read, understood and will abide by KOOR rules at all times.

Competitors will enter each round via KOOR and once paid they will then receive a sign-on link for the LHDC LTD online system which they must complete prior to each meeting. On the day of the event they must check-in and present their licence in race admin to receive their sign-on wristband.

Once drivers have completed their online sign-on process they will be sent a E-ticket to give them access to the circuit. Each driver will get one ticket and all guests and team members must purchase tickets via www.lyddenhill.co.uk.

When completing the online signing on procedure, the competitor must read and understand the briefing although there will be a second compulsory verbal briefing on the day of the event. Every competitor that attends the briefing will receive a briefing wristband.

Competitors will only be allowed to compete if they have both their sign on wristband and briefing wristband. Any tampering or swapping of the wristbands will result in exclusion from the event.

Competitors must be medically fit and make organisers aware of any medical conditions or allergies during the sign on process or during the event if their medical condition changes. Competitors must not be under the influence of alcohol or taking any drugs (whether prescribed or otherwise) that may impair their ability to take part.

Competitors must ensure they are wearing the correct safety clothing as outlined in the KOOR rules which includes a suitable helmet along with fire retardant race suit, gloves and balaclava. MINIROD FORMULA PRINCIPLE

MINIRODS ARE A BUDGET FORMULA AND THE RULES ARE WRITTEN WITH THAT IN MIND.

If you are modifying your car to seek an advantage it is probably not allowed; if you are modifying your car to improve safety it is probably allowed. Please bear this in mind when building your car. Must have a certified race seat securely bolted to the floor. This must be accompanied by a minimum of 5 point 3 inch harness. It is strongly recommended that neither the seat or the harness are any more than 3 years old.

Where new mounting points are created in the vehicle, they should each be reinforced with steel counter plates. Motorsport UK recommendations are strongly recommended – see K2.1 to K2.1.11 in the 2023 Motorsport UK yearbook.

Regular checks and maintenance should be performed throughout the life of the harness and seat to ensure it remains in a good and safe condition.

Cars must be fitted with a wire towing strap to the front and back of the car along with a window net on the drivers side. Tow straps must be securely fastened and rated for the weight required to tow your vehicles. Steering wheels may be removable.

It is advised to follow the Motorsport UK recommendations for the installation of your roll cage – See K1 to K1.8 in the 2023 Motorsport UK year book available online.

Noise

The noise limit for Lydden Hill is 100dB static and will be tested at a steady 5000rpm. A fully functional, and accurate rev counter is a requirement for noise testing, vehicles without a rev counter will automatically fail static noise testing and won’t be permitted on the circuit until remedial action has been taken.

Cars will not be permitted to race unless they pass the static noise test. Noise is monitored throughout the event through the use of ‘drive by’ and circuit perimeter monitoring. Any excessively noisy vehicle will be black flagged and removed from the track until corrective action has been taken.
